Mansfield Shire Youth Services are celebrating summer with some fantastic activities for young people on offer in January!
Youth Services and Partnerships Coordinator, Bonnie Clark said “a Pizza Party, Magic: The Gathering, Picnic in the Park and Summer Dayz Poolside are all happening, plus extended youth centre opening hours of 1pm-5pm, just for the holidays”.
The Mansfield Youth Centre is a fun, friendly, safe environment for young people to hang out, share spaces and activities with other young people in the community, and get access to great programs. We are open Tuesday – Thursday for 12-17 year olds, and Fridays for Young Adults, 18-25.
The youth centre will reopen from 1pm-5pm after the holiday break on Tuesday, 14 January with Tacos and Tortas, a FREE meal and hang out time for young people aged 12-17.
Wednesday 15 January will see us hanging out at Botanical Park for an afternoon of sunshine and soccer. 1pm-5pm, bring something to sit on and lots of sunscreen.
On Thursday 16 January at the Youth Centre, we have a special guest from Melbourne to host a round of Magic: The Gathering. This adventure card game is played all around the world, with aim to defeat opponents and show off your skill with majestic creatures and powerful enchantments. This activity is for ages 12-25, even if you’ve never played the game before! Our facilitator will guide us through the basic rules, then challenge us to a few rounds. All cards provided. 1pm-5pm.
Tuesday 21 January at the Youth Centre is pizza party day! Come make something delicious to share around or take home. Free for young people aged 12-17.
Engage! brings us Summer Dayz Poolside! All young people aged 12-25 who come to the Mansfield Pool on Wednesday 22 January between 1pm and 5pm will get FREE entry, plus a FREE drink, sausage and icy pole, and endless fun on the giant inflatable!
The grand finale, a special screening of ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ at the Youth Centre on Thursday 23 January. Centre is open 1pm-5pm, movie starts at 2pm.
On Friday 17 and 24 January, the MYC will be hosting Young Adults ‘Have Your Say’. Building upon our launch of ‘Friday Night Lights’ in 2019, this will be an opportunity for ages 18-25 to contribute to the planning of events and activities specific to the wants and needs of this age range in Mansfield. All young adults ages 18-25 are invited to join and have their say for what 2020 could offer! At the youth centre, 1pm-5pm.
