Friday, 20 March, 2020 - 12:15
The COVID-19 pandemic is creating issues for businesses large and small who are facing a downturn in trade, bans on events and restrictions on indoor gatherings, as well as challenges in dealing with employee safety and entitlements.
Businesses across the state can now access information on dealing with COVID-19 by calling the Business Victoria hotline on 13 22 15.
The hotline will provide the latest information on the response to COVID-19 and how this affects businesses, including how to access financial support available through the national stimulus package.
Mansfield Shire Council is extremely cognisant of the stresses currently facing businesses of all sizes within the Shire and is continuing to advocate on their behalf.
Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM said Council is working closely with State and Federal authorities, Tourism North East and the Mansfield & District Business Association to present the needs of our business community and will continue to do so. This is part of our responsibility to secure the financial sustainability of our communities as business prosperity affects employment and the community”.
“With the Federal government expected to make further announcements about stimulus or support for business, we will keep our community informed as it rolls out. We are also working with Small Business Victoria to run workshops on business resilience and how to plan and navigate through unforeseen events,” she said.
“Given the rapidly changing nature of the crisis, businesses need to access accurate information on how to keep their workplace safe, and advice on how to plan to deal with the current situation and anticipate likely developments. You can find a comprehensive list of support resources available on Council’s website”.
On Council’s emergency page: www.mansfield.vic.gov.au/emergency, there is a section outlining important information with links to relevant websites to support businesses.
