Mansfield’s new Botanic Park playground is on track to be ready by July 2021 with Council appointing AR Landscaping to deliver the project at a cost $501,653.
After a stringent tender evaluation process, Council resolved to award the contract to the Yarra Valley-based company, who provided a competitive response and proposes to use local materials and local sub-contract labour where possible.
“This project has been a long time in the making, and I, along with the community no doubt, are excited to see it moving forward” said Mayor Mark Holcombe.
“The new playground at the Botanic Park will have improved play equipment and has long been a priority project for Council and the community, so it’s great to see it going ahead.” He said.
General Manager Infrastructure & Planning, Kirsten Alexander said the original scope and design of the playground was carefully reviewed with the community project working group to ensure that the priority elements could be delivered within available funding, as only one of the two grants sought, to fund the project, was secured.
“Some adjustments have been required to the original scope, however we are confident we can keep the features the community identified as priorities for the playground.” Ms Alexander said.
