Are you, or do you know of others who are delivering random acts of kindness or community initiatives during the COVID-19 restrictions? If so, the Mansfield Courier wants to hear from you.

Mansfield Shire Council is working together with Mansfield Courier to kick-start a weekly space to share good news and keep the community connected, called MyMansfield. It will also span social media with the #MyMansfield.

Mansfield Shire Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM said after the initial shock of COVID-19’s implications, Mansfield’s community spirit has been shining through.

“The MyMansfield initiative will support the community in the relief phase and kick-start the community’s recovery,” Cr Attley said.

“We’ve been hearing stories of our community’s very creative ways of taking positive action, supporting each other and staying connected,” she said.

“So, the purpose of MyMansfield is to highlight these community and business initiatives. We want residents to contact the Courier with their ideas and the MyMansfield page will then give a weekly wrap-up of some of the ways people are buoying themselves and others during this time of home isolation,” she said.

The page will include stories, activities and promotions. Activities might be a scavenger hunt you can run in your back yard or bingo for all ages.

“We really want to hear stories of kindness and thoughtfulness but also about those who have thought of fun ways to make the most of home isolation.

Cr Attley said MyMansfield will enable people who live in other areas and usually visit Mansfield to stay connected and continue to be inspired by the community that they will come to for a holiday once restrictions are removed.
