Mansfield and district residents aged over 65 can now quickly access Meals on Wheels without waiting for a My Aged Care assessment first.
Mansfield Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM, said Council continues to deliver meals to existing clients and is pleased to let others know that the Federal government had changed the requirements to ensure that this service is now available to more people during this time.
“This is a valuable service that supports people aged 65 and over to stay at home and access food and basic household items,” said Cr Attley. “People interested in the service can either register directly with Council on 5775 8555 or contact My Aged Care by phoning 1800 200 422. Given the current circumstances, the service can be quickly set up and be provided for up to six weeks without the need for an assessment. My Aged Care will refer anyone who does register for this service to Council, as the local provider" she said.
"My Aged Care is also working with grocery suppliers to provide priority access to online and telephone shopping for older and vulnerable people, including those registered with My Aged Care.
“These are very helpful changes which give people a quick solution and help protect the older members of our community, and I encourage anyone who needs assistance with food or grocery support to contact Council or register with My Aged Care”, said Cr Attley.
