Data released by the Victorian Government on 27 August shows Mansfield Shire’s immunisation rate for the COVID-19 vaccine sitting at 65.7% for the eligible population over 15 years having had their first dose.
The Victorian average for one dose is 54.3%.
Mayor Cr Mark Holcombe said that he was proud of the community’s efforts to be vaccinated.
“Getting vaccinated protects not only your health but the health of our community, paving the way for a lifting of restrictions,” said Cr Holcombe.
“We know the Mansfield District Hospital vaccine hub has been working hard to immunise our community. We are grateful to our healthcare professionals and to our community for this.”
Surrounding shires have a higher proportion of their population vaccinated. The comparison data shows Mansfield Shire ranking 18th in the state in terms of the proportion of the population vaccinated. The rate of completed second-dose vaccinations is much lower, with Mansfield Shire ranking behind 54 other LGAs.
“There is still a long way to go for us to feel safe and for Victoria to lift restrictions and allow visitors to our region,” said Cr Holcombe.
“We are encouraging the community to book in and be immunised.”
