Mansfield and district residents and visitors are being encouraged to experience the Mansfield Lantern Festival. It will go ahead in a very vibrant and different format, with neon displays lighting up the centre of Mansfield next Saturday (19 June).
Mansfield Mayor, Cr Mark Holcombe said with changing COVID-19 restrictions it had been touch-and-go whether this winter solstice event could occur.
Cr Holcombe said the organisers, Walker Events and Council had made some significant changes which will enable the community to safely enjoy the wonders of the neon light displays.
“Our community’s safety and wellbeing is very important and we believe the neon activation in High St is a great option and something that all members of the community can enjoy whether it’s a drive by, walk through or take some photos,” Cr Holcombe said.
Allison Walker of Walker Events said while she is sad that everything that was planned can’t be offered, the neon lights will be stunning.
“We hope people will brave the weather for this one night only affair, and take some wonderful photos of the winter-themed neon lights along the High St median strip between 5pm to 9pm next Saturday,” Ms Walker said.
