While events to mark national NAIDOC Week have been postponed until November 8 to 15 due to Coronavirus, in Mansfield, Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM will hold a Q&A online session with Gadhaba Local Aboriginal Network Chair, Ann-Marie Fletcher next week.
Cr Attley said Council had worked with the Gadhaba Local Aboriginal Network (GLAN) to develop a week of activities, which unfortunately will be postponed.
“We had great plans for the week. Working with our Aboriginal community is important to Council as it gives us an opportunity to understand and highlight the strong indigenous connections to the land throughout our Shire. Together we build the strong community spirit for which Mansfield is known,” Cr Attley said.
GLAN Chair, Ann-Marie Fletcher said this year’s national NAIDOC week theme is: Always Was, Always Will Be.
“I’m looking forward to having the Q&A video conversation with Cr Attley about the NAIDOC week theme, what NAIDOC week is and what it means to local Aboriginal people,” she said.
The video of the session will be shared on Council’s Facebook page next week.
