On Saturday, 8 February 2020, Mansfield will be humming to the sound of pedal power as the 67th staging of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour hits town.

The 2020 tour has included Mansfield and Mt Buller as the second last stage of this iconic event, which now has Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) certification.

Being one of Australia’s premier sporting events, the Jayco Herald Sun Tour attracts competitors from around the world including past Tour de France winners.  .

Mansfield Shire Council Interim CEO, Peter Reeve said, “Our region, as part of Cycle High Country, has been identified as the premier cycling destination within Australia and this is now further endorsed by having this iconic event wanting to conduct their tour within our region”.

“Council will work with event organisers to maximise opportunities this type of event will bring to Mansfield with regards to promoting the destination, encouraging healthy active lifestyles within our communities and to engage with elite sports people”.

The tour covers over 639kms over 5 stages, from Nagambie to Shepparton, Beechworth to Falls Creek, Bright to Wangaratta, Mansfield to Mt Buller, with the final stage in Melbourne.

This historic event, with an elite field of only 91 cyclists at the start line, will see our region showcased nationally and internationally through live tv broadcasts and streaming.    Rolling road closures with a maximum delay of 15 minutes will be in place to minimise any negative impacts to the communities along the course.

Final details will be made available once confirmed.
