Council has resolved to purchase the ‘Police Paddock’ on Brown Street, Jamieson.

Council intends for the land to be used by the Jamieson Community group and Jamieson and District Historical Society Inc.

The site has a community storage shed that is being used for equipment and community resources, such as additional firefighting equipment and the community maintenance trailer. The land also contains a community bore which services the public toilets and the town stand pipe, which supplies water for use by the CFA and farmers for drought relief. The site is also used for additional parking for the community.

Mayor Cr Mark Holcombe said the addition of this parcel of land to Council’s asset list provides ongoing community benefit.

“The land is important to the Jamieson community, so we see this purchase as a way that we can ensure that the community continues to benefit from this asset into the future,” said Cr Holcombe.

The land was offered by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning at a cost of $25,000.
