Improving Access to the new Dual Court Stadium

Friday, 17 January, 2020 - 12:30

Planning is currently underway to upgrade View Street, including the construction of car parking and a bus turn around facility to improve access to the new Dual Court Stadium at Mansfield Secondary College.  Interested community members are invited to find out more at a community drop-in session on 1 February 2020.

Mansfield Shire Council Project Manager Dean DeSantis explained “We are currently working on a preliminary design for a carpark consisting of 85 spaces to be located at the end of View Street, between the Dual Court Stadium and the Playing Fields.

“Associated with the carpark will be an area that allows school buses to turn-around, eliminating the existing bus route along Reynolds and Finlason Streets.

“The View Street preliminary designs include widening, curb and channel, drainage and formalisation of parking including the addition of indented parking to the north-side of View Street.  A new round-about is also planned at the View Street, Highett Street intersection.”

Mayor, Cr. Marg Attley OAM said “These works compliment Council’s investment in the development of the Dual Court Stadium.

“Our population is growing, which is an exciting prospect for our Shire and will see an increased usage of the sporting facilities in this precinct as well as students at the Secondary College.

“It is important that we plan for the future and these works will facilitate better access and traffic flow for the facility users, school buses as well as local residents, now and into the future”.

Council has secured a State Governement contribution via the Fixing Country Roads Program for these works.

To view the preliminary design plans and all relevant information, interested community members can visit our website or attend a Community Drop-in Session on Saturday 1 February, 2020 from 11.30am – 1.00pm at Mansfield Secondary College, STEM Centre courtyard.  There will be a free BBQ and relevant Council Officers on-hand to answer questions.
