If you are interested in how Mansfield Shire Council meetings run or you are involved with a delegated or other committee of Council, now is the time to provide input into Council’s new Governance Rules.

Mansfield Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM said it is a requirement of the Local Government Act 2020 that Council must adopt new Governance Rules by 1 September 2020.

“The new rules will replace the current Local Law No. 2 - Meeting Procedures and Common Seal Local Law 2016. Council has endorsed the draft Governance Rules and we invite the community to review them. Residents can have their say on any aspect of the draft rules, which cover such topics as the rules for behaviour at meetings, how the Mayoral appointment is made and how other committees of Council operate,” Cr Attley said.

“It’s important that the community review the rules to ensure the rules facilitate participation and respectful dialogue. This is one of the tools that contributes to ours continuing to be an inclusive community in which people are empowered to engage in issues that affect their lives,” she said.

The draft Governance Rules 2020 can be accessed on Council’s website https://haveyoursay.mansfield.vic.gov.au/

The community has until close of business on 4 August to provide feedback via the website or email council@mansfield.vic.gov.au
