Have you checked your smoke alarm battery?

Thursday, 9 April, 2020 - 11:15

We'd like to remind you to check that your smoke alarms are working.

Mansfield Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM said the CFA’s annual promotion that you check your smoke alarm battery at the same time as when you put your clocks back an hour at the end of daylight saving may have been overlooked by some people.

“Given the Coronavirus situation, some people might be focused on other priorities at the moment. So, we’d like to remind people that this is one of those important things to help keep us all safe in our homes. In addition to testing your alarm and replacing the battery, the CFA says smoke alarms should be dusted annually to ensure they are working,” Cr Attley said.

“For those who can’t access their properties here at the moment due to the travel restrictions, we recommend putting a note in your diary to do it when the restrictions change. The same applies for people who own caravans with permanent sites at caravan parks,” she said.
