With the reintroduction of Stage 3 restrictions last week, Mansfield Library has sadly had to close its doors to the public once more.
But while the doors may be closed, there are still plenty of ways to get your literary fix with the support of library staff who will continue to work onsite while current restrictions are in place.
“One of the biggest success stories of the last lockdown was the introduction of additional online services including ‘Click and Collect’ and online story times” said Mayor Cr Marg Attley.
“Click and Collect, which has continued since it was introduced in April, enables members to order library items online, which staff then collate according to selected preferences, before being ready for collection from the Library during designated times.”
Another success has been an increased uptake in the number of members accessing digital resources available through the library.
“Members of the Mansfield Library have access to a huge array of digital resources including eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines and eComics which they can enjoy from the comfort of their own home with just a few clicks” explained Cr Attley.
“Some of my favourite applications include Kanopy, a free online streaming service which has a fantastic range of critically-acclaimed movies, documentaries and foreign films; and Pressreader, which provides free access to literally thousands of newspapers and magazines from around the world.”
“I strongly encourage community members to go onto Council’s website to see what’s available, and to contact staff at the library if you need help learning how to access any of the resources.”
