Council Offers Support to Local Business

Wednesday, 15 September, 2021 - 12:30

Mansfield Shire Council has been reaching out to local businesses to ensure they have the support they need.

Council’s Business Concierge Program supports more than 400 businesses across the Shire. While under restrictions, the program contacted businesses to offer information, resources and support over the phone. With an easing of restrictions, Council will visit those businesses in person.

The Business Concierge Program captures insights into the state of our business community. It examines the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns. With this information, Council can offer targeted support.

Mayor, Mark Holcombe said it was clear that businesses were suffering in the wake of ongoing lockdowns.

“When the business community struggles, there are far-reaching consequences for our community,” said Cr. Holcombe.

“This program allows us to check in, make sure businesses know that we are there to offer our support and facilitate resources for businesses, owners, operators and employees.

“We depend on visitation and these extended lockdowns limit key sectors, including tourism, hospitality and accommodation.

“Our team have been sharing information and staying on top of resources on offer from the Australian and Victorian Governments that would assist our local business community.”

The Program will continue to collect information to facilitate support and resources for local business.

“The best way the community can offer support to local business is to buy local,” said Cr. Holcombe.

“Showcase our shire’s craft, produce and entrepreneurship in your Christmas shopping this year and support your community to thrive.”
