Council Makes Key Appointments to Deliver $15m Capital Works Plan

Mansfield Shire Council has made two key appointments that will have responsibility for delivering the $15million capital works program planned for this financial year.
As the first step in returning the Infrastructure and Planning department to a full complement of staff, Kirsten Alexander has been appointed as the General Manager Infrastructure and Planning and Kristian Burchat as Manager Operations and Capital Works.
Mansfield Shire Council CEO, Kaylene Conrick said both Ms Alexander and Mr Burchat will commence with Council early August.
“We are currently interviewing for the Coordinator Capital Works Delivery, Coordinator Engineering Services and Coordinator Asset Management so that this busy area of Council will be fully resourced,” Ms Conrick said.
“Ms Alexander and Mr Burchat bring a wealth of experience which will benefit Council and our community,” she said.
Ms Conrick said the General Manager position will oversee Infrastructure, Parks and Gardens, Road Maintenance and Community Safety, including Environmental Health and Local Laws, Waste, Planning and Environment.
Ms Alexander, a qualified civil engineer is leaving her role as Projects and Infrastructure Manager with Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management Board, to join Council. In addition to managing a full capital works program and a multidisciplinary team over the past two years, Ms Alexander has over 30 years contract, asset and project management experience including in local government as Manager Infrastructure Projects.
Mr Burchat is a civil engineer with significant experience managing design and construct projects. He served six years in the Australian Army as a Combat Engineer/Instructor at the School of Military Engineering before moving to and working in the USA for 10 years on large civil construction projects.
Kristian Burchat grew up in north east Victoria he and his wife will relocate to Mansfield.
