Mansfield Shire Council is getting ready to open the Mansfield swimming pool on 16 November.
Mansfield Shire CEO, Kaylene Conrick said under current COVID-19 restrictions (3rd step Regional Victoria), outdoor pools will be allowed a maximum of 50 patrons, except if the pool is in use by a single school for education purposes.
“This means there will be significant changes in how the pool operates, particularly during school hours when schools will be given exclusive access to enable them to complete swimming programs. The community can use the pool before 9am and after 3.30pm and we will review our operating hours to provide the best access we can,” Ms Conrick said.
“In recognition of the likely disruptions to public access, Council will introduce multi-pass ticketing options as an alternative to full season pass tickets. We are also investigating booking systems to maximise lap swimmer access,” she said.
“The good news about the pool opening is that it gives the community another recreational and exercise option outside school hours. Lifeguards and swim instructors have recently been appointed in preparation for opening. The majority have served in their lifeguard or swim instructor roles before, so patrons will see some friendly faces. This means more employment in our community which is an essential part of recovering from the lockdown.”
