Mansfield Shire youth are ecstatic to be holding a youth-led scooter competition at the local skate park on 4 April 2020.

Mansfield Shire Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM said she was delighted the event was being championed by a young leader, Jimmy.

“I congratulate Jimmy for securing prizes from top scooting brands, as well as riders from the pro circuit for a demo and meet and greet. It’s created a real buzz among our youth,” Cr Attley said.

“Through using a team of young people to plan and implement the event, our Youth Services Co-ordinator Bonnie Clark is building skills and community connectivity. It’s a great approach and will be a popular event.”

The Scooter Jam competition is open to all youth aged 12-25, with divisions and great prizes. The event kicks off at 1pm, and competitors can register at www.mansfieldscooterjam.eventbrite.com.au

Young people  under 18 will require a parent or guardian present on the day to sign them in.  Entry is free and a helmet is mandatory for all participants. The event will be alcohol, drug and smoke free. In the event of extreme weather, the event may be postponed or cancelled.

This event was made possible with funding from the department of Premier and Cabinet, as part of Youth Week 2020. Victorian Youth Week is a week-long celebration of young people (aged 12–25). Youth Week shines a light on the enormous talent, creativity and community spirit of young Victorians, with more than 100 events and activities across the State, including bushfire affected communities.
