Council has resolved to request that the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) appoints Council as the Committee of Management of the Bonnie Doon Recreation Reserve.

Mayor Cr Mark Holcombe said this was not a decision that was made lightly but that it represents positive outcomes for the community, and is in response to a request from the existing Bonnie Doon Committee of Management.

“Bonnie Doon deserves to have their facilities managed and maintained for the benefit of the community,” said Cr Holcombe.

“The decision means the site will be managed in a similar way to the Mansfield Recreation Reserve. We will seek grant funding to try to improve those facilities and will look to appoint a Community Reference Group with representatives from the Bonnie Doon community to assist in running the site.

“Council already provides funding assistance and maintenance works for the reserve. This decision allows us to be in a position to work more closely with the community that uses this Reserve.

“We see this as a partnership between Council and community. We know working together will lead to improvements to the Reserve and increase utilisation. This is an important community asset and we look forward to seeing how it can continue to support the community.
