Improvements in ratings across a range of Council service areas has resulted in a significant increase in Mansfield Shire Council’s Overall Performance rated at 59% in the annual Community Satisfaction Survey; 7% points higher than last year.
Mansfield Shire Mayor, Cr Mark Holcombe commended the executive and staff for their dedication to the community over the past 12 months highlighting that Council received its biggest score increases in Town Planning Policy, Overall Council Direction and Lobbying (9 points each).
“It was heartening to see a 9 point improvement in Town Planning. We have done a lot of work in the past year to implement recommendations from the Statutory Planning Service review and will continue to roll these out,” he said.
Council’s Lobbying score and six point improvement in Emergency and Disaster Management to 74% are above the average for rural councils.
“The results on Lobbying and Emergency and Disaster Management show us that the community valued how Council responded to the pandemic both in on-ground services and lobbying for support for our community and businesses,” Mayor Holcombe said.
“At the same time, the Council team continued to deliver high quality services and we are happy to see the Appearance of Public Areas resulted in our highest score of 82. We also received an above average result for Customer Service, which is a priority area at all times,” he said.
The Community Satisfaction Survey recommends Council focus on Community Consultation and Engagement.
