9 Community Members Sought for Council's Recovery Advisory Group

Mansfield Shire Council is seeking nine community members to form its Business and Community Recovery Advisory Committee to help shape its recovery activities over the next 12 months.
Mansfield Shire Mayor, Cr Marg Attley OAM said since 1 January, the Mansfield community and businesses had been affected by one challenge after another and now, as COVID-19 restrictions start to ease, it’s time to plan the recovery phase.
“We are looking for community members who want to be involved in giving advice to Council about plans including the roll-out of two lots of Bushfire Recovery Victoria funding we have received. This totals $860,000. It is for marketing to people outside our area to come and enjoy Mansfield again, once statewide travel is encouraged. We have also received $200,000 from Regional Development Victoria for local community recovery,” Cr Attley said.
“This funding provides a lot of opportunities and in keeping with Council’s aspiration, we want to harness our community spirit and empower community members to engage in issues that affect their lives,” she said.
“We know community members will have a lot to contribute to recovery plans.”
The role of the Advisory Committee is to assist Council to identify the true need, challenges and experiences of the business sector and community, so real benefit is delivered from the funding received.
“By working in partnership with stakeholders we are seeking to effect significant change, lead the way to recovery and future sustainability and deliver the best outcomes for the entire community,” Cr Attley said.
The Business and Community Recovery Advisory Committee will comprise a minimum of up to 11 voting members with representatives from Mansfield District Business Association (2 representatives), the Mansfield Producers Group Inc., a licensed tourism operator and up to four external independent people as well as the Mayor and one additional Councillor.
Anyone interested in being involved on the Committee can access the Terms of Reference and the application process on the Consultation page:
