If you are a member of a not-for-profit group in the Mansfield Shire and have ideas for initiatives that build social connections and networks to support your group or local community, Council now has $50,000 available in up to $5,000 lots as part of its Quick Action Activation Grants.
Mansfield Shire Mayor, Mark Holcombe said the Victorian Government’s Community Activation and Social Isolation (CASI) initiative intended to help people who felt lonely or who lost their regular networks during coronavirus (COVID-19) to build social connections and networks of support in their local communities.
“These grants are being offered with the expected outcomes that initiatives driven by community groups will increase support to isolated, lonely and vulnerable people via groups, through local facilities and events. With up to $5,000 there is much that groups could do. In addition, increased social connections and bringing people together helps everyone in the community,” Cr Holcombe said.
“We encourage community groups to apply and note the deadline is 18 June,” he said.
Council’s Community Connector, Amanda Hudson is managing applications from groups and helping them to address the guidelines.
Projects may include improvements to community buildings, such as kitchens, bathrooms or social spaces and other infrastructure that increases inclusion, and access for all abilities.
