Participants and spectators are reaping the benefits of the $150,000 heating and cooling system recently installed at the Mansfield Sports Complex in Highett Street.
Mansfield Shire Mayor, Cr Harry Westendorp said the health and wellbeing benefits for those involved in sport will be substantial, especially in the heat of summer and the depths of winter.
“The upgrade, which was fully funded by Council, will enable more people to benefit from and enjoy the sports complex as it will allow for year-round comfort for participants and spectators alike,” Cr Westendorp said.
Cr Westendorp said the upgrade means more people can take part, which builds not only community health and connections, but also contributes to the Council’s aspiration for an inclusive community.
Bess Gillard, President of the Mansfield Basketball Association is thrilled with the upgrade.
“The air conditioning upgrade at the Sports Complex will allow players, coaches, spectators and officials to enjoy the games in cool comfort. Thank you Mansfield Shire Council for installing this wonderful asset that will benefit the whole community,” Ms Gillard said.
Included in the works was the internal and external duct work, outdoor unit and electrical upgrade to facilitate the installation. Total cost of the works was $150,000.
