Are you passionate about increasing physical activity and participation in adults over the age of 55? Would you like to see people aged 55 years and older in your community stay active, engaged, happy and healthy as they age? Mansfield Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from local residents to form a group of volunteers to lead an Age-Friendly Weight and Strength Program (WASP). Age-Friendly Weight and Strength Program volunteer group leaders will be required to: Be residents of Mansfield Shire Be committed to develop skills, knowledge and experience in regards to volunteering as a WASP group leader. Register and be a part of Mansfield District Hospital Volunteer program and meet all legislative requirements. Attend a 2 day Active Ageing Australia Weights and Strength Program designed for volunteer Group leaders, to be advised when this training will be held. Lead a weekly WASP session in their community. Meet with the physiotherapy team at Mansfield District Hospital on a quarterly basis . Develop new connections and have fun along the way! I am willing and able to commit to a term of 2 years, consult objectively with individuals and community groups and work collaboratively with the Age-Friendly Communities Steering Group on the Mansfield over 55’s Weight and Strength Program related goals.
