The Mansfield FReeZA team and Mansfield Secondary College music department have teamed up to present ‘Emerging Sounds’, a FREE weekend songwriting and producers camp designed specifically for 12-18 year olds with creative minds and experience with either an instrument, vocals, producing or interest in songwriting.

Places are limited to 20 and will be allocated by an application process.

Weekend workshops include:

• Writing and performing a song

• Creating lyrics, melodies and enhancing your chords.

• Specialised training on producing, mixing, sampling and recording, from certified Ableton trainer Davey Norris, from 'Sound of the Future'

Sound of the Future  is a not-for-profit organisation that runs music and creative writing programs aimed at young people. STF’s programs are designed to not only to foster young people’s creativity and expression, but also to build their capacity to combat the challenges associated with student achievement, cultivate post-secondary aspirations, and provide life skills to prepare students for their transition into adulthood.

What is Ableton Live?

Ableton Live lets you easily create, produce and perform music within one intuitive interface. Live keeps everything in sync and works in real-time, so you can play and modify your musical ideas without interrupting the creative flow.

Live comes with a versatile collection of instruments, sounds, kits and loops for creating any kind of music and provides a full complement of effects to tweak and process your sound. -

Participants will also have the opportunity to experience a Q&A session with industry professionals and mentors, covering topics such as creating songs, recording, approaching labels, booking venues, and future opportunities within the music industry.

Each participant will walk away with their own original piece of music that we can help them enter into Triple J's 'Unearthed High' Competition.

FReeZA is an initiative of the Victorian Government and all events are strictly alcohol, smoke and drug free and fully supervised.
