Mansfield Shire Council invites you to join us for our Australia Day celebrations on the High Street median strip on Saturday 26 January, 2019.
Come and enjoy a complimentary BBQ breakfast and entertainment starting at 8:30am.
This year our Australia Day Ambassador is Mr David Jacka. David is an inspirational Australian who suffered a motorcycle accident in 1988 that left him with high-level quadriplegia. As a result, he has become a master of finding solutions to seemingly insurmountable obstacles and will talk about his journey and aim to smash disability stereotypes and raise the public's expectations about what people with disabilities can achieve.
The award winners for Senior Citizen, Citizen, Young Citizen and Community Event of the Year will be acknowledged and the winners of the colouring competition will be announced.
Entertainment will be provided by Dennis Tucker and the anthem will be sung by Jess Saladin with support from the Mansfield and District Orchestra. The event will also include a flag raising ceremony a Citizenship Ceremony for three of our local residents who will become official dinky di Aussies and a Citizenship Affirmation for those present to re-affirm their loyalty to Australia.
There will be a road closure in place to facilitate the Ceremony from 9.00 am - 10.00 am.
