| Whilst pools and spas open to the public are not required to be registered, there is a legal requirement for them to be operated and maintained in a disinfected condition pursuant to the Infectious Diseases Registration. Pools and spas located at motels, caravan parks, clubs and the like fall within the definition of public pools and spas.
The operator of the facility is compelled to ensure that the required levels of disinfection is present before the pool or spa is opened to the public.
