Proposed Family and Children's Centre
The proposed Mansfield Family and Children’s Centre is planned to work within state, national and international models for integrated delivery of family and children’s services. The model aims to make it easier for families to access the services they need and build professional interaction between service providers that enhances the overall delivery of services to the community.
The Shire is currently faced with 3 main factors that make this development urgent for Mansfield:
• inadequate number of places for child care with extensive waiting lists,
• an ageing kindergarten building that will require significant work in the next 5-10 years if it is to remain viable
• an ageing and undersized facility for the Council’s family and children’s services
The proposed centre will address all three issues including a refurbishment of the kindergarten providing viability for the facility into the future.
The Mansfield Family and Children’s Centre Facility and Business Case Report is the first step towards realisation of this facility.
The next step in the process will include a planning permit application while actively seeking funding support will continue.
