Mansfield Recreation Reserve Redevelopment
Council is working with the community and Mansfield Football-Netball Club to undertake a major upgrade to improve the layout, amenity and general usability of the town’s major social, sporting and recreational hub – the Mansfield Recreation Reserve.
The first stage of this project – upgrading the playground was recently completed in December 2011. Funded through a grant from the from the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government the new playground is the biggest in Mansfield and includes equipment for children of all ages and abilities.
Additional funding will need to be secured from other levels of government for the other stages of the project to proceed. These stages include;
- enlargement of the oval
- improvements to oval access
- new surface and base to the competition netball court
- construction of a new second netball/basketball court
- lighting improvements
- construction of tiered spectator seating to the south of the oval
- alterations to parking within the Reserve (with some loss of informal parking space).
Funding submissions for the remaining aspects are currently being prepared by Council.
The
design development drawings are availiable to download.
The project has gained in-principle approval from the Mansfield Recreation Reserves Advisory Committee at a special committee meeting on May 19, 2010.
