Mansfield Groundwater Study
In August 2010 Council received funding from the Australian Government's
Water for the Future initiative through the Strengthening Basin Communities program in partnership with the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) to undertake a study of groundwater resources and the interaction between groundwater and surface water within the Shire. Council engaged Albury based consultants, GHD, to undertake the Study, and assistance was provided by DSE, the Victorian Farmers Federation, Goulburn Valley Water, Goulburn Murray Water, Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority together with the Mansfield Community.
GHD has finalised its 12 month study into groundwater resources within the Mansfield Shire. This Study essentially looks at the impacts of groundwater extraction on aquifiers and surface water bodies within the Mansfield catchment area, and how best to manage water use throughout the catchment.
The recommendations from this Study will inform future land management and planning decisions across the Shire.
A copy of the Study may be downloaded from the link to the right of this page.
