Solar North East in Mansfield
The Solar North East program was undertaken in North East Victoria offering quality renewable energy solutions and competitive financial packages to residents in the Mansfield Shire. The Sustainability Victoria funded program, operated across the seven council areas of Alpine, Benalla, Indigo, Mansfield, Towong, Wangaratta and Wodonga. The Solar North East Program was run from June 2011 until November 2012.
The key planks of the Solar North East program were to provide residents and businesses with range of support to reduce their energy consumption and to determine the most suitable solar system to help them generate their own electricity, thereby saving money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
This support was underpinned by the cost benefits of bulk-purchasing. Information sessions were held for residents to discuss the program and ask any questions.
As part of the program, Mansfield Shire Council installed a 4.56kWp system on the Mansfield Library. The inverter of this system uploads live data to the web (which is shown below), and shows how much power is being generated in real time.
