Mansfield Family Day Care is a community based childcare scheme, which is sponsored by the Mansfield Shire Council, and funded by the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services.
Family Day Care is a program whereby children up to the age of 12 years are cared for in the homes of registered careproviders. Each careprovider caters for up to four preschool age and three school age children at any one time.
It offers an alternative to centre based care and informal minding arrangements, and is particularly suited to babies and small children who respond to the individual attention given by the careprovider.
Careproviders are situated in both Mansfield and the surrounding district. Careproviders’ homes are visited and monitored regularly by Family Day Care Coordination Unit staff, who discuss children’s’ progress and provide support and guidance.
Mansfield Family Day Care offers full time, part time, before and after school, school holidays and casual care. Childcare Benefit subsidies are available to eligible families to assist with the cost of fees.
For further information please phone the Family Day Care Coordinator on (03) 57758567.
The family support service can work with families to develop practical life skills, parenting skills and community support networks.
A unique aspect of the family support service provided by the Mansfield Shire is the
“Home is Where the Heart Is” -
Home tutoring program. This program is able to assist families in which a child needs extra support in learning and confidence in school.
The home tutor works with the parent/s and the child to promote learning at home and develop stronger links with the child’s school.
The
family support service is free and is funded jointly by the Department of Human Services and the Mansfield Shire Council. To find out more about this service telephone 5775 8576.
