Goughs Bay is the biggest settlement in Mansfield Shire outside of Mansfield township. A quiet settlement in winter it booms during summer with an influx of part-time residents and visitors to play on the lake, in the river, to camp and enjoy the scenery.
The village has a general store, boat club, a restaurant and a number of accommodation businesses. The Goughs Bay CFA is located on the outskirts of Goughs Bay and is always seeking new members.
The community has a representative group - the Goughs Bay and District Progress Association - and they can be contacted by email on firstname.lastname@example.org
Community Planning in Goughs Bay
Goughs Bay created their first community plan in 2007 and set about bringing some of the actions to life - the walking path and BBQ park are testament to this.
As part of the Capable and CohesiveCommunities project, the community was given the opportunity to review and update the 2007 plan and add fresh ideas and visions.
The community came together at a BBQ and shared their ideas then prioritised them through a survey. A smaller group worked through the results of the survey and developed this plan.
Goughs Bay Community Plan.
This plan was created by the community to guide Goughs Bay’s future. It was created by, and belongs to, the people of today.
A working group with a leader will be formed for each of the projects and Council will help where appropriate. The community plan will be reviewed every three years to make sure it still reflects our priorities.
