While responsible for all trees on Council controlled land, street trees are more typically found planted between the road edge and the property line. Maintenance of these includes occasional trimming, removal of dangerous trees and replacement or installation of new trees. Regular audits of tree health and condition are carried out to help manage the trees and reduce the risk to the public.

Trees overhanging the road are also a concern and the Council is developing a policy to manage this factor as well.

Council has a range of parks and reserves available to the community, including:

 Several council owned playgrounds
The Mansfield Wetlands and walking trail
 Several sporting fields
 The Mansfield Botanical Gardens

Mountain bike riders coming down from Mt Buller
